Scappoose and Saint Helens seem to only have 2 types of restaurants, Mexican and Chinese. Being a small town with limited restaurants I was skeptical about eating at a sushi place. However, was quite pleasantly surprised at the quantity and quality of food here. This is a small restaurant in the "downtown" area. The furnishings are simple and the bathroom is clean. The menu offers both bento style boxes and full sushi menu. Be prepared for a lot of food. The fish is good quality and sushi well made. It is better than the "train" style sushi but isn't quite up to par with the really good sushi restaurants in Portland. Have been eating lunch here now for some time and get quick service and good food. (Passes the sensitive tummy test.)

The sushi is great but the service is absolutely HORRENDOUS. We even tried to circumvent their service by calling in our order but my friend ended up sitting in the restaurant for 45 minutes longer than when they said it would be ready. What a joke!

Best sushi in St Helen's. Decent prices for lotsa food. We love leftovers. We've been coming here for about a year now. Food is consistently good. Service and ambiance isn't over the top by any means, but we'll be back anyhow.

Cleanliness: B Service: D Atmosphere: C- Food: F A waitress that seemed to disappear for 20 minutes at a time, my guest and i couldn't get a drink refill, chicken fried sushi, and a suspicious smell permeated the establishment. My stomach was still upset 24 hours later. Unfortunately, the only nice review I have of this restaurant is that it's well priced.

The place seems like a hole in the wall... but the food...the food...oh my goodness yelp reader...the food is amazing!!! I get the teriyaki chicken which is soooo good!!! Along with California rolls and shrimp and veggie tempura. My Husband likes the salmon sushi and raves about it every time we stop in. It's definetely not a fancy place, but if you are in the mood for good sushi or teriyaki chicken. This is the place!

Chicken Teryaki for the kids was really good. Rolls were good but not great. Hand roll was blah. Kind of odd to not see the sushi being made but it's a small town place and I guess anything goes. The service was non existent. There was only one waitress with 6+ tables, who kept disappearing into the back and appeared to be more concerned with partially bussing tables.

I'm writing this review because I can't personally reply to all comments on here. I am the owners daughter and would like to clear some things up, first of all we are not a drug front as stated on one review. If it just so happens it's dead on the day you came in then that's just how it was on that day or time. If our business wasn't successful our doors would not be open for 10 years and just because our chefs aren't Japanese doesn't mean our food isn't good. If this is going to become a racial issue then maybe one day we will need to close because we don't deserve to be treated that way after so many years of being in St Helens. I dislike comments like that as you can see as far as all the sushi bars I've personally been to their isn't always Asian people making sushi and we are not obligated to have a sushi bar. We're a restaurant that added sushi to our menu not a sushi bar, I'll make that clear. If your dining experience wasn't the greatest I will personally apologize for that and if the food didn't suit your stomach I apologize for that as well but I do want to give a huge thanks to all of our customers that have supported us throughout all these years and who continue to dine with us frequently.

Perfect sushi for the middle of nowhere. As other people have said, this joint is awesome. Fresh tasting quality food sewer prices. Ordered fried and fresh sushi dishes all were exactly as expected in flavor and presentation. Healthy menu size.

This little place is jewel with large portions and fresh tasting food. I wouldn't say this is a sushi bar but their sushi is good, tempura excellent, teriyaki excellent, service top notch and well worth what one is charged. It appears that the majority of their business is take out. The interior has been remodeled and they now serve beer, wine and sake. IMO, this is the best restaurant in Columbia County, Oregon and always take my Mother there when I visit the west coast. Before we moved to Colorado, my Wife and I would frequent this restaurant and it's amiable staff at least once a month (selfishly and wanting this gem to thrive, I always pay with cash so that the owners may have a little more take home $).. thanks, Miyako.

This is a great little place for getting a sushi fix. Reasonably priced and a variety of options available.

This little hole in the wall is delicious. Best Chicken Karrage in Oregon! You'd never know it -- but really give it a try.

Good sushi and great prices! Check out the daily special for cheap tasty rolls! I'm glad the only sushi place in town is this good!

Surprisingly solid sushi, yakisoba and teriyaki for a small town. Don't expect much on decore but who cares if it saves you a 30 minute drive in to PDX. Pretty inexpensive too!

Been going there for years. Nobody is ever inside The food has always been good until yesterday when there was a huge black hair in the rice. I have blonde so obviously not mine.

The food is ok. We liked the yakisoba (sp) and the chicken. The sushi wasn't anything exciting. Tasted bland. The service is horrible. The woman forgot the appetizers we ordered and brought our food out. I mentioned the appetizer and she said ok went to the back and didn't come back until we had finished our food and she brought the appetizers. Told her we were finished and ready to leave so no thanks. She then charged us for them!

Good service, but the sushi not so much. I'll try chicken and/or noodles next time.

Descent Japanese food, considering its owned and chefed by a Mexican family. Interior could use some sprucing up though. Very drab.

Has to be the only place with sushi for miles and it is actually very good. The teriyaki plates are also great and is a good portion.
